Diablo 4 Expansion: Vessel of Hatred – What’s Coming
The highly anticipated *Diablo 4* expansion, *Vessel of Hatred*, is almost here. This massive update to the action RPG will bring a host of new content, including an exciting new campaign set in Nahantu, the introduction of the spiritborn class, runes, and mercenary companions. Blizzard is also launching the *Season of Hatred* (Season 6) alongside the expansion, providing plenty of reasons to keep playing even after completing the main story.
Major Changes Leading Up to Vessel of Hatred
In recent months, Blizzard has made significant changes to *Diablo 4* to prepare for the expansion. Loot has become much more powerful, and several classes, including the necromancer, have undergone dramatic reworks. The game is almost unrecognizable compared to its launch version, making the transition into *Vessel of Hatred* much smoother when it releases in October.
New Expansions Every Year
Blizzard has announced its plan to release new expansions annually, each introducing a new class along with a list of features and changes, like the mercenary companions coming in *Vessel of Hatred*. While you’re not required to purchase every expansion, skipping them might leave you watching from the sidelines as others enjoy the latest updates and content.
Release Time and Preload Details
Blizzard has posted the official release times for *Vessel of Hatred* on X. If you're in North America, you'll be able to start playing as early as 4 PM PDT on Monday, October 7. For those who own the game on Battle.net, preloading is available now, but Steam players will need to wait until October 7 to begin the download.
Availability on Game Pass
Despite Microsoft’s ownership of Blizzard, there hasn’t been any announcement about *Vessel of Hatred* being available on the Game Pass subscription service at launch. The base game is currently available on Game Pass, but it seems like everyone will have to purchase the expansion separately when it releases.
