Fortnite OG is making a permanent return this December

Fortnite is bringing back its roots once again. Epic Games has revealed that the nostalgic Fortnite OG mode, which revives the battle royale’s original island, will become a permanent addition starting December 6th.

Originally launched last November as a limited-time event, Fortnite OG was a major hit, designed to re-engage former players ahead of the launch of Lego Fortnite. Its return means fan-favorite elements like Tilted Towers and the Baller will now be permanent fixtures in the game.

Epic is also aiming to replicate OG’s success with the current Chapter 2 Remix. As the name suggests, it reimagines the game’s second chapter with a fresh twist, adding a strong musical element. This includes weekly island "remixes" by artists like Snoop Dogg and Ice Spice, alongside some of the most outlandish weapons Fortnite has seen.

Fortnite isn’t alone in tapping into nostalgia. Other live-service shooters, such as Apex Legends and Overwatch, have also introduced events that pay homage to their origins.
